ABOUT YOUR COUNSELOR- Mrs. Gemile Fleming

In the Fall of 2024, I had the privilege of joining the Trailblazer team as their School Counselor. Though I have had the opportunity to meet many of you already, I wanted to take some time to formally tell you a little about me.

I grew up in the Springs and D11 and graduated from Palmer High School. I married my high school sweetheart and am currently a mother to eight “children” ranging from 6 to 37 years old. My husband and I have five grandchildren and, in addition to parenting, l love to hike with my husband, do yoga, and enjoy all Colorado Springs has to offer. After living in the downtown area for a while, we decided to move to the West Side on account of the community and trail access. We currently live a few blocks from Trailblazer and daily “rub shoulders” with many of the families from there.

I graduated from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs with a Masters in Counseling and immediately began my journey in School Counseling. I worked in various districts in the Springs area but am glad to be back “home” in District 11. In 2018, I was awarded Elementary School Counselor of the Year; ultimately being awarded the School Counselor of the Year later that same year.

At my core, I believe each and every student is special and needs encouragement to grow. I have a positive, caring, and outreaching demeanor which allows me to reach kids where they are. I also believe my role as a School Counselor is to help support them in both their academic and social/emotional journey. Trailblazer is a wonderful community of students, parents, teachers, and staff who have created a culture of excellence and kindness. It is my goal to team up with these great people to support both the families and the students at Trailblazer allowing the students to reach their academic and social/emotional goals. I welcome the opportunity to meet you and speak with you about any concerns you may have about your student’s growth here at Trailblazer.

Thank you for the warm welcome I have received over the past few months.
